Worship is held weekly on Sundays with Holy Communion at 8:00 & 10:30 am. Music is the one of the primary ways we interact and come to more fully experience the word and sacraments.
Our worship guide is Evangelical Lutheran Worship, the current hymnal of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. (Visit www.elca.org to learn more about the ELCA!) Nursery care is available during 10:30 worship in our nursery, just off the church balcony. All are welcome to join us for worship, and all baptized Christians who believe Christ is truly present in the meal are invited to participate in Holy Communion. Our sanctuary is air conditioned and handicapped accessible.
Each week, a children’s sermon or children’s church is offered during the 10:30 am service. Trinity offers a professionally staffed nursery during the 10:30 am service for infants through Kindergarten age children.
The Music Department at Trinity is made up of four choirs, as well as additional groups that form for special occasions. While preparing music for the worship services, each choir discusses what their roles are in worship, and why the elements of our services as Lutherans are what they have become.
The Junior Choir is for students in first through fifth grades, and leads worship about once a month and most special occasions. Included in weekly rehearsals are games or activities that discuss basic music theory. Rehearsals are Mondays, 5:30-6:30 pm.
The Youth Choir is open to any Middle and High School students. Members of Soli Deo Gloria will be encouraged and learn about participating in worship in the capacity of an Assisting Minister or Cantor. Rehearsals are Wednesdays, 5:30-6:30 pm.
The Trinity Chancel Choir is our oldest running ensemble, formed only months after the founding of the congregation. Although the faces and leadership have changed greatly, a love for fellowship and quality music opportunities continue. The Chancel Choir leads worship every week, primarily at the 10:30 service, and participates in weekly services during Lent and Holy Week. Throughout the year the choir travels to participate in special events throughout the region, and has sung at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine. Rehearsals are Wednesdays, 7:30-9:15 pm.
Peal of Trinity is our handbell choir. Trinity was one of the first churches to have an American handbell choir in the 1950s, started under the leadership of Martha Fisher. Peal of Trinity plays 1 or 2 anthems a month, and participates in special services and our Christmas at Fifth & Chestnut concert. Rehearsals are Wednesdays, 6:30-7:30 pm.
Numerous lay persons assist the clergy and music directors in worship. The Assisting Ministers, Lectors, Altar Guild, and Worship Assistants are all satellite groups of the Music Department who facilitate many aspects of worship. Please contact Drew Long, Director of Music, or the church office to learn more about these ministry opportunities.
All inquiries regarding baptisms, weddings, and other items of pastoral care should be directed to the church office by phone (215.257.6801) or email (firstname.lastname@example.org).
